Yinson contributes insights for CFA Research Challenge 2018

Yinson was honoured to be selected as the research subject for the local chapter of this year’s CFA Institute Research Challenge 2018 – an annual, global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis.
About 80 students from 11 universities participated in an in depth half-day session with Yinson’s investor relations team on 8 November 2018, at the Gardens Hotel and Residences.
The session included an opening address by Yinson Group CEO Mr CY Lim, an investor presentation and a lively question and answer session with the students.
The participants will then work in teams to research and analyse the company, and then write a research report with a buy, sell or hold recommendation. The winner of the local level competitions then advance to compete in regional competitions, then the Global Final, where one team emerges as the global champion of the CFA Institute Research Challenge.
Each Research Challenge season leverages the efforts of over 140 CFA member societies, 3,500 member volunteers, and more than 5,000 students from over 1,000 universities.
Mr Lim said Yinson was pleased with the opportunity to support CFA Society on the initiative.
“We aim to develop the future workforce through partnerships with local educational institutions – this forms part of Yinson’s Sustainability Strategy, and contributes back to the longevity of our business and our shared future,” he said.
Students who attended the session appreciated the presentation provided.
CFA Challenge participant Meenachiramnathan Arun, from Sunway University, said he found Yinson’s presentation to be detailed and informative.
“Yinson took into account that this would have been the first company presentation for many students who had attended. Most students appreciated the ample amount of time given for the Q&A session. It was very helpful for us to understand the company better,” he said.
