What is the role?

The Lead DevOps Engineer will be a part of Yinson Green Technologies’ Digital Products team developing new digital products to support our new business ventures in the Electromobility, Energy and Marine sectors. It will entail working closely with Solution and Technical Architects, Software Engineers, Software Test Engineers and Product Managers to develop and deliver these digital products. The Lead DevOps Engineer will be responsible for integrating and deploying the product releases in an automated and seamless manner, while ensuring that the platforms are scalable and resilient using appropriate software engineering practices, tools and technologies. The Lead DevOps Engineer will have a solid background in software engineering and is familiar with designing and implementing cloud hosting services.

We are looking for someone who possesses an astute business awareness to understand the value proposition of our digital ecosystems. The person must have significant experience working on large and complex products, has a passion for technology and enjoys working in a fast changing and challenging environment to build a net zero carbon future.

Some of your tasks may include:

• Use continuous integration and delivery tools to automatically build, test and deploy the products built
• “Automation first” mentality, desire to automate manual activities particularly in integration, deployment and monitoring of applications and infrastructure
• Design and build optimum production environments to ensure scalability and resilience of the deployed products
• Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle – Design, Development, Integration, Testing, Deployment, Maintenance and Customer Support for large and complex systems
• Collaborate and work together with Solution and Technical Architects, Software Engineers, Software Test Engineers and Product Managers in the lifecycle to achieve the desired product outcomes
• Produces and validates the cost estimates and delivery schedule for DevOps efforts
• Exploit appropriate software tooling and techniques to the integration, build and release processes to realise the most effective outcome
• Continually improves personal understanding of new technologies, tools, technical concepts, methods and measurement that underpin the product portfolios of the company
• Proactively research industry trends and best practices and apply them where applicable
• Able to work independently, proposing viable technical solutions through research and in-depth understanding of the production environment

Who should apply?

• Bachelors degree or Masters in Engineering/IT/Computer Science
• 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in the IT/Software industry with 3 to 5 years experience in DevOps
• Proficient knowledge of AWS Cloud services
• Experience with Enterprise Linux (Redhat, Oracle, Centos)
• Familiar with Bash and Shell scripting
• Design, deploy and maintenance of database technologies such as PostgreSql, MongoDB
• Experience in Git/BitBucket source control systems
• Performance tuning of Python and Java applications
• Experience in orchestration and containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible
• Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Bamboo
• Understanding of capacity monitoring and scaling
• Familiarity with the Atlassian Suite of products such as Jira, Confluence and BitBucket.
• Comfortable working and debugging on production systems
