Yinson is honoured to be appointed as an expert panel on the Climate Change Advisory Panel by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Sustainability.
The Climate Change Advisory Panel serves to advise and guide the development of climate change policy, to ensure alignment with best practices, and the latest research and development in the field of climate change. The Advisory Panel will be advising Malaysia on the Conference of Parties (COP), to be held next at Baku, Azerbaijan in November this year.
The Advisory Panel consists of representatives from the public and private sectors, including economics and finance, trade and industry, natural resources, energy, sustainable development, and technology and innovation, collectively forming a comprehensive and strategic view on the issue of climate change.
Yinson’s Group Head of Sustainability and representative to the Advisory Panel Dr Renard Siew commented on the appointment, “As an energy infrastructure company, Yinson believes in collective action to drive an inclusive energy transition. We look forward to working closely with other stakeholders to drive more positive climate impacts.”
Malaysia as a member party to the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement has committed to a 45% greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity per gross domestic product (GDP) reduction by 2030, compared to 2005.
