We are pleased to announce that Yinson Ghana has received three awards at the Sustainability and Social Investment Awards – an initiative that aims to identify and publicly recognise companies operating in Ghana which improve the quality of life of the communities they operate in through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects.

The awards received are as follows:

   – Best Company in Skills Development Project
   – Best Company in Supporting Sports Development.
   – Best Company in Youth mentorship Project

The event, which took place on November 13 at the Kempinski Hotel, was attended by Director of Oil and Marine Agencies (“OMA”) Sam Edmund. Yinson was represented by Yinson Ghana Country Manager Ari Lehtonen, CSR Coordinator Edward Mensah and other colleagues from Yinson’s Ghana office.

Yinson’s operations base in Ghana is in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region, and is surrounded by three communities namely Apowa, Kejaberil and Pretea. Local CSR projects extend to Takoradi, which is the capital city of the Western Region and to Nkroful in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region. Yinson’s asset, FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor is moored about 70km offshore from Nkroful.

Yinson’s ongoing CSR projects in Ghana include:

   – The Yinson Scholars Programme, which provides scholarships to students in the Ahanta West district annually throughout their 3 years
      in Senior High School.

   – A collaboration with local community leaders to provide an Information Technology Centre at the Kejabil Municipal Assembly Junior
      High School.

   – The Yinson Welding Training Centre, which was constructed for students in the Takoradi Technical Institute. Yinson also provides
      students with welding consumables annually.

   – The Yinson Assembly Hall in Nkroful, which serves as an educational and recreational centre for the people of Nkroful and the
      surrounding communities.

Yinson’s CSR Coordinator Edward Mensah said, “Yinson’s CSR mission is to promote skills improvement and training opportunities, promote quality education through sports and promote education and high-quality learning in our local communities. We see these awards as an indication that we are on track and accomplishing our objectives, and we hope that the local community is receiving a positive impact from these efforts.”
