Yinson GreenTech (“YGT”) has officially launched the rydeEV Experience Centre in Petaling Jaya, bringing one of the region’s biggest e-bike leasing companies with swappable batteries to Malaysian road users.

The stylish 8,000 square feet centre serves as a one-stop destination for all things rydeEV, the micromobility segment of YGT. Anyone can now visit the centre to test ride the e-bikes, experience its battery-swapping technology, sign up for affordable lease-to-own or leasing packages, get their e-bikes serviced or repaired and purchase rydeEV merchandise.

The launch was officiated by the Minister of Investment, Trade & Industry (“MITI”) YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz, alongside Yinson Group Executive Chairman Mr Lim Han Weng, Yinson Group Chief Executive Officer Mr Lim Chern Yuan and rydeEV Managing Director Mr Syed Ahmad Faiz Syed Yusoff Fadzil. YGT also unveiled its limited-edition Bumblebee Ryder and Hyper bikes during the event.

Tengku Zafrul Aziz said, “Green mobility is one of the key focus areas in our recently launched New Industrial Master Plan 2030’s net zero mission. As Malaysia proactively courts investments in green tech innovations and solutions, we also aim to create opportunities for our SMEs, particularly through the development of holistic, low-carbon mobility ecosystem as outlined by our National Automotive Policy. To that end, rydeEV’s affordable e-bikes are right on the mark as a product that is both energy- and cost-efficient, making it a highly attractive, sustainable, and inclusive mobility solution to all levels of consumers, from corporates to SMEs, and the general public.”

Mr Lim Han Weng said, “At Yinson, we believe that energy transition needs to be inclusive, and that means improving the accessibility and affordability of green technologies to as many people as possible. Southeast Asia has the world’s highest motorcycle ownerships per capita. Thus, providing an economical, seamless alternative to existing solutions, underpinned by supportive Government policies, is pivotal to the widespread adoption of green transportation and green technology solutions. We aim to remove barriers to EV adoption with rydeEV.”

Mr Syed Ahmad Faiz commented, “We are thrilled to officially launch the rydeEV Experience Centre, where visitors can experience the future of micromobility and the convenience of our swappable battery technology. Since starting up our operations in Malaysia, we have already installed swapping cabinets in 15 locations and signed on several large corporations looking to decarbonise their fleet. By December 2023, we aim to set up battery swapping stations at 100 strategic locations nationwide to overcome range anxiety while using the bikes.”

rydeEV offers two leasing options – B2B Leasing and Leasing to Own. For B2B Leasing, the monthly price for 24 months for Ryder is RM299 and RM499 for Hyper. This option includes unlimited swapping and maintenance, insurance and road tax coverage. Meanwhile, for Leasing to Own, the pricing is RM299 for 36 months or RM250 for 48 months for Ryder, and RM430 for 36 months or RM339 for 48 months for Hyper. Consumers will only need to pay RM1 to own the bike after the lease-to-own tenure ends. Users may find out the locations of the battery swapping stations from the Oyika App, in order to plan their travels in advance.
