Food for thought: the UNEP estimated that about one-third, or approximately 1.3 billion tonnes, of all food produced worldwide, is lost or wasted. Wasted food is one of the major contributors to climate change.
In 2021, Yinson raised RM30,000 through an employee campaign in our Kuala Lumpur office with The Lost Food Project (“TLFP”), Malaysia’s pioneering food bank dedicated to rescuing and redistributing quality surplus food to the people who need it most.
Based on TLFP’s Impact Report 2021, we are pleased to share that Yinson’s contribution helped TLFP to channel approximately 150,000 meals to vulnerable communities by redistributing surplus from the food industry. The initiative also avoided approximately 131,250 kg of greenhouse gas emissions by diverting food from landfills.
Thank you, The Lost Food Project for the opportunity to support your mission in providing greater food security and environmental sustainability.
