Yinson Production Ghana has once again demonstrated its commitment to promoting quality education in its host communities by sponsoring the 4th Annual Yinson Reading and Spelling Bee Competition in the Ahanta West Municipality. Held under the theme “A Reader Today, A Leader Tomorrow,” the event brought together thirty-five students aged five to twelve from twenty-seven schools who had excelled in earlier qualifying rounds.
The initiative, held in partnership with the Ghana Education Service, aimed to encourage literacy and academic excellence. At the Junior High School level, the top-performing male and female students each received a full Yinson Scholarship covering their three-year Senior High School education. These students also received tablets preloaded with books. Participants from the lower and upper primary categories were awarded learning kits, novels, plaques, and additional books to encourage continued learning.
Speaking at the event, Yinson Production Ghana’s Local Content and CSR Manager, Mr. Edward Mensah, highlighted the importance of education in national development. “This reading and spelling competition aligns with our mission to promote quality education and effective learning,” he stated.
The Director of Education for Ahanta West Municipality, Mr. George Effah, commended the students’ efforts and encouraged them to continue their academic journeys with dedication and enthusiasm.
As part of the company’s broader community development efforts, Yinson Production also donated a new batch of books to the Kejebil Library – a facility built by Yinson in 2021. The donation is aimed at enriching the library’s collection and supporting reading habits among students and community members.
During the handover ceremony, Mensah reiterated the company’s belief in reading as a foundation for growth. “Access to quality reading materials is essential for nurturing future leaders. This annual donation reflects our long-term commitment to education and community empowerment,” he said.
Local authorities, including the Divisional Chiefs of Agona and Kejabil, and heads of local schools, expressed gratitude to Yinson Production for its consistent and meaningful investment in the region’s educational development.
