Yinson Holdings Berhad was awarded the ‘Pioneer Sustainable Development Action Recognition’ at the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (UNGCMYB) Sustainable Performance Awards 2022. The recognition acknowledges Yinson as a pioneer in introducing ‘first in the market’ sustainability-related products with the successful issuance of Malaysia’s first Sustainability-Linked Sukuk.

Yinson issued Malaysia’s first Sustainability-Linked Sukuk Wakalah, which raised RM1.0 billion in December 2021. Due to overwhelming demand with an orderbook of RM1.66 billion, the offer size was upsized from an initial target of RM700 million to RM1.0 billion. The landmark issuance leverages Yinson’s Sustainability-linked Financing Framework and Climate Goals Roadmap, supporting Yinson’s efforts to achieve its climate transition strategy and reinforce its commitment towards a low-emission future.

Yinson Head of Sustainability, Dr Renard Siew commented on the recognition, “It is an honour to receive this recognition from the UNGC. This recognition validates all the hard work and commitments that we have made to drive and integrate sustainability into Yinson’s business operations, including project financing strategies, to create long-term sustainable value for our stakeholders.”

The Sustainability Performance Awards programme is an initiative by the UNGC Network Malaysia and Brunei to recognise the continuous efforts of all its participants and to inspire others to make sustainability an integral part of their business strategies.
