In January, Yinson launched a Company-wide initiative, “1 Attendee, 1 Tree Planted”, in collaboration with APE Malaysia (Animal Projects & Environmental Education Sdn Bhd). Each employee participated in a visual representation, placing a bookmark on the Yinson 30 by 30 tree to symbolically mark their commitment. The placement of the bookmarks indicated the start of this initiative.
Later in April, a total of 300 native tree saplings of various species have been planted in the Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary in Sabah, one of Malaysia’s most ecologically significant regions. Despite the challenges of the monsoon season, APE Malaysia’s dedicated team successfully planted various kinds such as the towering Bangkal and fruit-bearing Fig, helping to restore degraded areas where only grasses and ferns once grew.
Over the next four years, these saplings will be carefully maintained to ensure healthy growth. In their fifth year, they are expected to grow into trees reaching up to 5 metres tall, and within a decade, they will leave a long-lasting, positive environmental impact, gradually contributing to forest regeneration and providing essential habitat and food sources for local wildlife such as gibbons and orangutans.
This initiative reflects how corporate events can be transformed into opportunities for positive impact—connecting people, purpose, and the planet. We are deeply grateful to our partners at APE Malaysia for their expertise and passion, and to our team for embracing sustainability in action.
