Yinson has officially launched its Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (“TNFD”) Report, marking a key milestone in its commitment to nature stewardship and biodiversity. The inaugural report outlines Yinson’s three-pronged nature strategy, which focuses on responsible stewardship, rehabilitation and remediation of biodiversity, and investments in nature.
The disclosure also includes an assessment of nature-related risks and opportunities across the Group’s global assets. This initiative reinforces Yinson’s dedication to integrating nature into business decision-making and supporting global efforts towards a nature-positive future.
TNFD is a global initiative that helps organisations understand and disclose their nature-related risks and opportunities. It offers a science-based, market-led framework supported by governments, aimed at providing useful information for investors and stakeholders to make informed decisions. Beginning 2025, Yinson became an adopter of TNFD, demonstrating our commitment towards better accountability and greater transparency by aligning our nature-related financial disclosures with TNFD’s recommendations.
Coinciding with the launch of the TNFD Report, Yinson collaborated with Kelab Belia Prihatin Malaysia to set a Malaysian record for the ‘Most Mangrove Tree Saplings in a Nursery’ with 2,500 saplings, representing five mangrove species, successfully planted at Pusat Pendidikan Kecil Hutan Bakau in Pulau Pinang. 50 participants comprising Yinson employees and Kelab Belia Prihatin Malaysia members took part in the feat that was witnessed by Ilias Shafie, Chairman of Persatuan Nelayan Pulau Pinang (“PIFWA”), Christopher Wong. The activity is in conjunction with World Mangrove Day 2025, observed on 26 July, annually.
Dr Renard Siew, Yinson's Head of Corporate Sustainability, commented, “The launch of our TNFD Report is a significant step in our journey towards sustainability. By embedding nature into our business strategies, we are not only mitigating risks but also seizing opportunities to contribute positively to the environment. This report is a testament to our unwavering commitment to biodiversity and nature conservation. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate our Yinson4Youth (“Y4Y”) 2024 grant recipient, Kelab Belia Prihatin Malaysia, in together setting a new Malaysia Book of Records title for the most mangrove saplings in a nursery! We look forward to more impactful and meaningful initiatives such as this in preserving our biodiversity.”
Kelab Belia Prihatin Malaysia is one of the recipients of Yinson’s Y4Y 2024 Grant, awarded for its mangrove conservation efforts. The grant has supported the establishment of a mangrove nursery, “We Be-Leaf Together” at Parit 3, Tanjung Karang, Selangor, serving as a hub for seedling cultivation, scientific research, and community education.
