Yinson GreenTech and PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) are set to transform the nation’s highways with the groundbreaking ceremony of Malaysia’s first highway Integrated Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Hub (The Hub) at the Seremban Rest and Service Area (Southbound) on the North-South Expressway. This milestone project reimagines the journey for EV drivers by bringing together advanced charging technology and a vibrant retail and food & beverage environment.
The Hub in Seremban will feature 20 state-of-the-art Direct Current (DC) charging points, allowing EV drivers to recharge their vehicles rapidly—typically within 20 to 30 minutes. Backed by a main switch station and transformer supplying 1.2 MW, the hub is designed with future power expansion in mind to accommodate the growing needs of Malaysia’s EV community.
Beyond charging, the Hub offers a comprehensive suite of amenities: eight duplex retail and F&B outlets, a drive-thru option, generous parking for all users, and essential facilities such as public restrooms and a surau, ensuring comfort and convenience for every traveller passing through the corridor.
The recent groundbreaking ceremony brought together key dignitaries, including the Minister of Works, Dato Sri Alexandar Nanta Linggi, high-level representatives from the Ministry of Works, Malaysian Highway Authority, Yinson GreenTech and PLUS in attendance. The event also marked the introduction of Terra chargEV, a strategic joint venture between Yinson GreenTech and PLUS, dedicated to developing a connected network of integrated EV hubs across Malaysia’s highways in support of national low-carbon mobility initiatives.
“Today marks a historic milestone as Yinson GreenTech and PLUS integrate world-class EV charging infrastructure into the nation’s highway network,” said Lim Chern Yuan, Chief Executive Officer of Yinson GreenTech. “By establishing these Hubs at pivotal locations on critical expressways, we are directly addressing the core needs of EV drivers—convenience, speed, and reliability. This initiative will help overcome range anxiety and encourage greater EV adoption, supporting Malaysia’s transition to green mobility and a robust EV ecosystem.”
This first EV Hub is slated to be operational by early 2027, paving the way for a series of developments that will shape the future of Malaysia’s highway network and accelerate the nation’s journey towards a sustainable, electrified future.
