Yinson recently collaborated with Teach For Malaysia (TFM) to conduct a learning session at a public primary school in Kampung Gajah, Perak, as part of TFM Week 2025.
Yinson’s Ong Ken Yong, Group Head of Corporate Finance & Treasury, led the session alongside Jo Lene Sam, Corporate Communications Manager and Najihah Syamsul, Corporate Sustainability Senior Executive, collaborating with TFM Fellow Cikgu Asenath Jasananthi to deliver an engaging English and Financial Literacy lesson for 22 students in Year 5. The session creatively integrated language learning with essential financial concepts, and product innovation helping students understand real-world applications of English while introducing them to basic money management skills.
All three Yinson representatives shared their personal career journeys, offering students a glimpse into the professional world and inspiring them to explore diverse career opportunities.
Reflecting on the experience, Ong said, “Teaching these bright young minds was truly fulfilling. Their enthusiasm and curiosity reminded me of the importance of nurturing future talents. I’m also deeply impressed by the dedication of TFM Fellows like Cikgu Asenath, who passionately work to bridge educational gaps in Malaysia. By combining language skills with financial literacy, we hope to empower these students with knowledge that will benefit them in life.”
Jo Lene and Najihah echoed the sentiment, expressing how rewarding it was to connect with the students and witness their enthusiasm for learning. “It is moments like these that remind us how powerful it is for young minds to see what they can become,” added Jo Lene Sam.
Cikgu Asenath added, “Having industry leaders like Yinson in the classroom make learning more relatable and exciting for our students. The children were not only engaged but also left feeling inspired, knowing that their dreams are achievable. This collaboration helps spark their curiosity and broadens their perspectives on future possibilities.”
TFM Week is an annual initiative that invites leaders from various sectors to step into classrooms, experience educational challenges firsthand, and motivate students through their personal and professional stories.
Since 2019, Yinson has been a proud corporate sponsor of Teach For Malaysia, reaffirming its commitment to addressing educational inequity and fostering opportunities for young Malaysians.
