In an on-going effort to give back to the local Ghana community, Yinson Production West Africa Limited donated sporting kits to six public schools in Apowa and Kejabil on top of commissioning a brand new toilet facility in Kejabil.
The public schools are the Kejabil MA Junior High School (hereafter, referred to as JHS), Kejabil MA Primary School, Arthur Fischer JHS, Arthur Fischer Primary School, St John Methodist JHS and St John Methodist primary School. The kits they received, consisted of a range of sporting equipment including table tennis boards and accessories, footballs, netballs, volleyballs and jerseys.
Mr. Edward Mensah, the manager responsible for Corporate Social Responsibility and Local Content at Yinson Production West Africa Limited represented Yinson in the opening ceremony of the event that was held at Kejabil MA JHS on 18th December 2018.
“Yinson is a firm believer that sports has a positive effect on childrens’ all round development, and that it impacts their ability to learn,” said Mr. Edward Mensah.
In a bid to create as much positivity as possible for the local children, Mr. Mensah also commissioned the building of a new toilet facility in the Kejabil JHS, to replace one of two of its existing toilet facilities that no longer worked. The new toilet facility will be shared by the Kejabil Catholic Primary School as well, where new facilities will serve approximately 200 children and 10 teachers in the area.
“We hope that building this facility will keep the children in school during school hours and help them focus on their lessons,” Mr. Mensah explained.
Yinson’s operations base is located at Kejabil, about 10km from Takoradi. Yinson has always been dedicated in improving the areas where it operates and places a strong focus on investing in local communities for the betterment of the people.
