Yinson recently partnered with SAGEMAKER ASIA PLT (“SAGEMAKER”) for a volunteering activity under the Yinson4Youth (“Y4Y”) initiative. The event, themed ‘Rebuild. Revive. Reconnect’, brought together 14 Yinson employees to transform a space in Taman Kosas, Ampang, Malaysia, into a vibrant community hub for women from low-income, women-led households in Malaysia.

The team spent eight hours assembling, sanding and varnishing furniture, painting rooms and restoring built-in fixtures to create a welcoming, functional environment. The community hub will directly benefit more than 40 women artisans who will use the hub’s facilities regularly to develop skills to make and sell handcrafted products.

Maizatul Kamal, CEO of SAGEMAKER, expressed her appreciation for the support, “The dedication and enthusiasm of Yinson employees have truly brought this space to life. This hub will be transformative for our women artisans, providing them with a place to connect, create, and flourish.”

Dr Renard Siew, Yinson Head of Corporate Sustainability, highlighted the importance of such community-focused efforts, “At Yinson, we are committed to driving meaningful change through active community involvement. This volunteering initiative exemplifies our passion for empowering those in need while advancing our sustainability objectives. As SAGEMAKER's women artisans begin using the space, we’re confident it will extend far beyond its physical boundaries, fostering economic resilience and creative development.”

SAGEMAKER, a 2025 Y4Y grant recipient, is a social enterprise that empowers women artisans from Malaysia’s B40 communities by creating sustainable income opportunities through programmes that nurture their talents and skills in handcrafted products. With the grant, Y4Y aims to support SAGEMAKER in uplifting these B40 women, transforming them into self-sustaining entrepreneurs capable of competing in both local and global markets.
